Things I made….. and How?

BookPuzzle_Pickup

This sound was created by editing a foley recording that we did of dropping a book in our group foley session.

CatVoice

Created by Me and Maria. We wrote the script and then ran it through a text-to-speech website. I then used the loopback in my audio interface to record it into Ableton. Maria then spaced out the sound to match the animation.

FloorCreak_1 and FloorCreak_2

I edited down a large audio file that Juice has put on the drive, some foley from a creaking chair. A selected small slices that sounded best for creaking floorboards. I then mixed them by equalising, pitching them, compressing (with a multiband compressor) and layering them. I then created 2 different tracks that played the creaking sound with large gaps of silence between them, these tracks would then loop in the attic. This is a case where FMOD would have been good to change the pitch and randomise the likelihood of it playing, but for the sake of this project, it works fine.

PickUp_General

This sound was created early on in our group mixing session using the DPA Lav mic. I made a simple clicking sound and layered it with a slightly pitched-down version that was delayed slightly. This sound was simple but was just created to give the player an instant tactile response to let them feel as if they have picked something up (like fingernails touching the surface of an object)

PuzzleSound_1 , PuzzleSound_2 and PuzzleSound_3

To create this sound I edited some of the sounds I made when we did our group foley session. This sound in particular was the sound of the seal breaking of my Starbucks coffee (as part of my meal deal) when the lid was opened. I then created a few pitched variations to add variety so that each time a puzzle piece is clicked in in the game it produces a familiar yet slightly different sound.

PuzzlePieceHint_Loop

This sound was made to guide the players to the puzzle pieces, as suggested in feedback from the VR teachers to help the player find them. I made it by repurposing and editing some of the music (the stems for the wind instruments in Juice’s composition). I looped a small section in Ableton’s sampler instrument and played the sample backwards. I used Valhalla Delay to create a shimmer/pitch delay to add sparkle to it and make it stand out amongst the other sounds in the space. This sound would then be attached to the puzzle pieces with the looping sound.

UnlockDoor

This unlocking door sound was made from editing and chopping together multiple parts from some foley that Juice had done.
