Intro to DIY Electronics – Week 1
An engaging introduction to the craft of making—as well as creatively cannibalizing—electronic circuits for artistic purposes. With a sense of adventure and no prior knowledge, we can subvert the intentions designed into devices such as radios and toys to discover a new sonic world.
- Part 1: “The Victorian Synthesiser” primitive electro-acoustic oscillations using a battery, speaker driver and paper clips
In todays lesson we experienced with speakers and batteries, learning the basics of how electrical current produces sound. By connecting the circuit the speaker driver pulsed once. By increasing the rate that the driver pulsed we could hear a frequency, we could this physically by creating a feedback loop of the speaker moving
I felt like a got a better understanding of how speakers work and how electronic sound is produced, when before my knowledge was more based on digital sound.
