Plunderphonic Devices

I created a few max patches to experiment with:

A granular synth. One ‘sample’ at a time. Pretty by the books granular synthesis. This was as much to practice using max’s RNBO meaning this could be exported as a VST, or even implemented in a website.

Sample player. This one uses a folder of many files and randomly chooses the file as playback rate (loop/speed/pitch), loop length.

I aim to use both of these in my audio paper to abstract samples. The samples of music I used contain either titles, lyrics or themes that correlate with the meaning of paper – Its meta but I think its interesting at changing the listening state between the casual, reduced and semantic, you might recognise a song inside the abstraction.

Im also working on a monophonic transient splicing sampler, like sampler in Ableton is capable of, but with the focus on randomly changing the splice after the one previous ended.
